Perceptum™

Perceptum is a Latin term meaning: “to gain, learn, perceive, understand”

Perceptum™ is a unique, value-added service from MedLearning that enhances medical education meetings by providing a customized and interactive channel for audience response and content topic choice.

Perceptum combines the value, convenience, and impact of a traditional audience response system (ARS) and expands the interactive capabilities and customized utility to include audio and video modules that ARS cannot match.

Through the technology of Personal Data Assistants (PDAs,) MedLearning can poll a meeting audience by specialty, demographics, disease state awareness or other data sets that are germane to program curricula. In addition to this element of a customized audience response system, Perceptum can utilize this information to qualify and direct personalized information including mini slide sets, expert video discussions, or other media appropriate to both the overall theme/content of the meeting and the individual needs of the participant.

Prior to each meeting, the Perceptum computer server will be programmed with questions and/or customized video modules. At registration, each attendee will receive a Perceptum PDA unit for use during the program. If audio is utilized through the Perceptum unit, each attendee will also receive a set of new ear pods for use during the program. Meeting presenters will incorporate Perceptum into their presentations and participants will respond to both general questions and individual queries on their unit. Presenters will receive immediate results from each question or case situation presented. Based on responses to program questions or individual choice of the participants, Perceptum can present customized case studies or video modules enhancing the overall educational experience of the program attendee.

At the end of the meeting, the faculty presenters can revisit answers given at the beginning and note whether or not change occurs based on the content delivered during the program. This often stimulates lively Q&A. Perceptum units are collected from each attendee at the end of the meeting and are recharged and stored for the next program.
